Unger HydroPower Ultra 3-Stage DI System (UHP03)
The Unger HydroPower Ultra UHP03 is a professional deionizing tank for working cleaners and hard-water homes: a 30-inch DI tank with an integrated TDS meter, sold without a pole, hose or brush.

Who should skip this
Skip it if you don't have a water fed pole to feed; the tank alone cleans nothing. Skip it on soft municipal water, where spotting isn't your problem. If you want filtration and pole in one box, the 24 ft kit with an inline filter is the homeowner version.
The full review
The Unger HydroPower Ultra is the deionizing (DI) half of a professional water fed setup. Hose water goes in, dissolved minerals stay in the resin, and the rinse dries on the glass without the white spotting that undoes a wash. This listing is the tank on its own. There is no pole, brush or hose in the box, so price those separately before you count on cleaning anything with it.
What Unger says you get
Unger's US catalogue lists UHP03 as the HydroPower Ultra Large Tank: an aluminum and plastic unit 30 inches tall on a footprint of roughly 12.5 by 13 inches, weighing just under 50 pounds. The features Unger names are FloWater technology for water distribution through the resin, a FastLock opening with a pressure release valve, KeyLock resin bags that only fit the correct way round, and an integrated TDS meter so you can watch the purity of the water leaving the tank. Unger's own line is that it "produces 100% pure water, eliminating the need for chemicals."
The same 30-inch tank appears in Unger's international catalogue as the HydroPower Ultra Filter L. There it ships with three 6-litre resin packs and is rated for up to 2,450 litres of pure water at normal water hardness, with a target reading of 0 PPM and a resin-change threshold of 10 PPM.
Why the rinse matters more than the scrub
Most cleaning failures aren't about scrubbing hard enough. They're about the water. Tap water carries dissolved minerals, and when it dries on hot glass it leaves the spotting you were trying to remove in the first place. A DI tank strips those minerals out so the panel dries clear with no squeegee pass and no towels.
The TDS meter is the part to pay attention to. It reads the mineral content of the water coming out of the tank, and Unger's guidance is a target of 0 PPM with a change at 10 PPM. When the number climbs, the resin is spent, and the spot-free result goes with it.
What you still need
This is the filter, not the kit. To clean a panel you also need a water fed pole with a brush head, a hose to the tank, and a hose from the tank to the pole. On this site the XERO Pro Basic 30 ft carbon fiber pole and the Tucker Alpha Honey Badger brush are the pairing to look at. Unger's own nLite poles are not bundled with this tank on Amazon.
How high can you safely reach from the ground?
A water fed pole exists to keep you off the roof, and that is the whole point of buying a pure-water setup. For a single-story house with panels near the eave, ground work is realistic. Steeper pitches and second-story arrays get awkward fast: the pole feels heavy at full extension, and you lose the angle to see what you are cleaning.
Two safety notes. Carbon fiber poles conduct electricity, so keep any pole well clear of overhead service lines and never extend it near them. And if the only way to finish the job is climbing onto a wet roof, stop and get quotes from vetted local pros instead. A pro visit costs less than a fall, and it will not put your panel warranty at risk.
How does it fit a normal cleaning routine?
Work early, while the glass is still cool. Rinse first to float off grit, brush with light pressure (no scouring pads, no pressure washer), then rinse top to bottom with the DI water and walk away. Nothing to dry.
Most homes do fine with one or two cleanings a year. Dusty roads, pollen season, nearby farm fields or heavy bird traffic push that higher. Soiling can cost roughly 5% to 25% of output depending on where you live and how long it has been, so it is worth putting a dollar figure on the problem before you spend anything on equipment.
The verdict
Buy the Unger tank if spot-free results and daily durability are worth the resin bill and you already have, or are buying, a pole to feed. It is the unit a professional would put on the truck, and it is built to be used weekly, not twice a year. If you just want one array clean each spring and fall, pick something simpler from the gear index and let the sun back in.
